What a roller coaster opening it was to the Ryder Cup on Friday.Team USA would have been more than pleased with their morning’s effort in Paris having moved into a commanding 3-1 lead after the first session. However, it all went south in the afternoon as a resurgent Team Europe dominated the second session, whitewashing their guests to end the day 5-3 up.Lead by an inspirational Rory McIlroy, the Europeans played some simply incredible golf to firstly restore parity and then take the lead.It was the ideal start as Europe look to wrestle the famous old trophy out of the grasp of the Americans. The potential atmosphere at Le Golf National was one of the biggest talking points in the week building up to to the contest with the first tee expected to be surrounded by massive numbers of rowdy fans.So far, it has not disappointed. The large crowds have really made themselves known and the course has at times sounded like a Premier League football game rather than a golfing contest.Or perhaps a Champions League fixture would be a more accurate description? One of the most memorable aspects of Liverpool’s remarkable run to last season’s Champions League final was the famous rendition of ‘Allez Allez Allez’ sung by their fans.It was unmistakable then, when the same tune rang out among the fans crammed in around the first tee in France.Have a listen in the video below:What a racket. What made it even more brilliant though was the revelation of the lyrics.

Outstanding.

“We wear the blue of Europe - we’re never gonna stop
With Thomas Bjorn our captain, we’ll win the Ryder Cup
Seve was our hero, now Poulter is our boy,
But no one hits it further than Rory McIlroy.”

Safe to say that little number is not a bad one to get stuck in your head.

It is no surprise that the Ryder Cup is possibly the most watched golfing event on the planet and with atmospheres like this it only gets better.

Team Europe will be hoping to continue their dominance on day 2 as they look to set it all up for victory on the final day.
