Manchester United really needed a win against West Ham.
Not only did they find themselves eight points behind the league leaders ahead of the match, but they also crashed out of the Carabao Cup at the hands of Derby on Tuesday.
They also need a victory to stop everyone from talking about what is going on behind the scenes at Old Trafford.
A public falling-out between Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho was filmed in training on Wednesday, epitomising the difficult week it’s been for the club.
But it got a whole lot worse in east London.
Within five minutes, they found themselves 1-0 down when Felipe Anderson brilliantly turned in Pablo Zabaleta’s low cross.
And just before half-time, United were 2-0 down.
Andriy Yarmolenko found space inside the box and has shot was deflected into his own net by Victor Lindelof for an own-goal.
The Red Devils needed to come out in the second-half all guns blazing.
They needed an early goal and they put pressure on the home side in the opening few minutes of the first-half.
In the 50th-minute, they earned themselves a corner that Ashley Young took.
The 33-year-old appeared to change his plan and decided you would attempt to drift the corner into the box.
However, he completely miskicked it and it fell straight to Mark Noble on the edge of the box.
It resulted in a counter-attack for West Ham, which resulted in Marko Arnautovic firing over.

Take a look:
It was a terrible, terrible corner and, if it had led to a third West Ham goal, Young would have been embarrassed.
Either way, fans on social media were mocking Young for what they described as the ‘worst corner kick ever.’
FANS THINK IT WAS THE 'WORST CORNER EVER'
Check out the reaction:
Incidentally, United actually pulled a goal back from a corner - although it was Luke Shaw with the outswinger that Marcus Rashford converted brilliantly.
But Arnautovic killed off any chance of a comeback with a goal just minutes later.News Now - Sport News
