John Wall finds himself in a good situation with the Washington Wizards, as there could soon be an uptick in his fortunes.

Due to the departure of LeBron James from the Cleveland Cavaliers, the East's Finals spot has opened up for any number of teams in the conference to take advantage of.

While many will tip the likes of the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, and Toronto Raptors to be in contention, the Wizards shouldn't be counted out either.

Winning an NBA title is the ambition of every player in the league before they call it a day, and that's exactly what Wall wants to do before his career is over as well.

Wall told NBC Sports Washington: "I think for me to have a heck of a career — if I don’t win a championship, I feel like my career was a failure. So that’s my ultimate goal."

A hurdle which Wall will have to overcome in order to make that happen though is getting past the second round in the playoffs, something which he has never done in his career.

The point guard said: “It's always like everybody says, 'you can get to the second round but you can’t get past it.' I never want to be one of those guys who can’t get past the second round."

After being eliminated in the first round last Washington have improved their chances of getting to the second round and beyond this upcoming season with the signing of Dwight Howard during the summer.

Due to LeBron's departure from the East as well, Wall believes the conference is open for any team to take advantage of, not just the ones that have made the conference finals over the past few seasons.

The point guard told Yahoo Sports back in August: "Y’all might have been to the Eastern Conference finals, where we haven’t been to, but none of y’all were going to the Finals. It was one guy going to the Finals. Ain’t nobody separated from nothing."

The Wizards have enough talent to compete with the likes of the Celtics, Sixers, and Raptors, but we'll have to wait and see if they're able to do just that.
