Deeney could have been sent off for his tackle.

Arsenal fans aren't happy with the commentary during Troy Deeney's tackle on Lucas Torreira

It was a tough start to Unai Emery’s Arsenal career but, then again, it was always going to be.

Emery lost his opening two matches to Manchester City (0-2) and Chelsea (3-2).

However, since then, Arsenal have won seven consecutive matches in all competitions.

Their latest victory against high-flying Watford lifted them above the Hornets into fifth.

They may not have fully deserved their 2-0 victory on Saturday afternoon but they won’t care one bit about that.

An 81st-minute own goal from Craig Cathcart and a Mesut Ozil strike two minutes later sealed all three points.

But there was something that upset Arsenal fans in the commentary.

And it involved the player Arsenal fans love to hate - Troy Deeney.

Deeney got booed all afternoon at the Emirates

Last season, Deeney said that the north London side lacked “cojones” after they were beaten 2-1 at Vicarage Road.

It led to him being roundly booed during his trip to the Emirates this weekend.

And he could easily have been sent off in the 78th-minute when, on a yellow card, put in a late challenge on Lucas Torreira.

Deeney was lucky to escape a second yellow card

But that’s not what really angered Arsenal fans.

Instead, it was the commentary from Tony Gale.

He insisted that Torreira should have been booked for diving - when Deeney clearly catches him.

“This is poor from Torreira,” Gale said.

“If anything, it’s a yellow card the other way.”

Really, Tony!?

It really is a baffling take on what happened and Arsenal fans simply couldn’t contain their anger.

On the pitch, though, Arsenal will look to continue their winning streak when they visit Qarabag in the Europa League. They then face a trip to London rivals Fulham before hosting Leicester.

Can they make it 10 consecutive wins?
