As a rookie superstar in NXT, Emma had all the potential to be a top star in the WWE.

A match with the now-retired Paige at NXT ArRIVAL in 2014 received high praise, and could have easily meant big things for the Australian when she inevitably made it on the main roster.

When she got there however, she was instantly stuck with Santino Marella, who was essentially at that point a comedy character.

A return to NXT in 2015 saw her undergo a character transformation as a cocky heel, and a return to the main roster quickly followed, but yet again Emma wasn't used as well as she could have been.

After a back injury sidelined her in 2016, Emma was set to become 'Emmalina', a more glamorous alter-ego of herself, but plans were shelved and she returned the night after WrestleMania 33 as her heel character.

Things looked up after she eventually got her first pay-per-view match since the 2014 Survivor Series at No Mercy in September 2017, but a month later she was gone from the WWE for the second time in her career.

The first time she was released was in 2014, just a few months after she was brought up to Raw and SmackDown, was due to being charged with allegedly stealing an iPad case from a shop, but she was reinstated hours later following public backlash and the charges being dropped.

This time though there was no way back into the company, and she left for pastures new, before turning up at Ring of Honor in February 2018.

But even after a promising start in RoH, it's all gone downhill for the Aussie.

At the company's television tapings last night, Emma, now performing under her real name Tenille Dashwood, revealed that not only does she need surgery for a shoulder injury, but she's also suffering from an autoimmune disease.

She will now have to sit on the sidelines for months as she's trying to get her career on the upward trajectory then - which is what she was doing in Ring of Honor.

Get well soon, Tenille.
