Football is an emotional game, you have to be passionate and fired up just to get out onto the field in preparation of the beating your body is likely to take over the next couple of hours.

Sometimes it's a great thing, other times...not so much.

Akiem Hicks crossed the line today as his Chicago Bears side took on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as the big defensive end decided to take some of his frustrations out on a referee rather than an opposing offensive lineman.

As the Bears picked off Ryan Fitzpatrick during the second quarter of the game, Hicks took issue with the actions of another Bucs player and decided to take matters into his own hands.

Unfortunately, an official got in the way of the pushing and shoving, and Hicks decided he hadn't quite had enough yet - so gave the referee a shove as well.

You can take a look at the incident below. It's not the greatest view and you'll have to squint a tad, but trust us, what Hicks did was definitely deserving of the ejection that he was handed by the same official.

Hicks will be receiving a nice little letter come Monday morning confirming the $33,000 fine he is going to be getting for making contact with an official.

Further punishment could be coming, however, with a one-game suspension a real possibility if the league decides it was bad enough.

At the time of Hicks' ejection, he had recorded one tackle, one sack, one tackle for loss and one quarterback hit. The Bears were leading the Bucs by a score of 35-3. What is there to be that angry about when you're up by so many points?
