The dust has now settled over what was an incredible Ryder Cup last week, where Europe claimed back the cup for the fourth time in the past five tournaments.

Europe, led by team captain Thomas Bjorn won this year's competition in convincing style, scoring 17 1/2 to America's 10 1/2.

The USA, who were captained by Jim Furyk, and with a resurgent Tiger Woods - who made a remarkable come back from the pits of golf to secure his first win in five years at the Tour Championship a week previous - were in truth disappointing and aside from a couple of tight moments on Sunday never truly looked like they could retain the trophy.

And after the last shot was made on the final day of this year's Ryder Cup, no one could have envisaged that celebrations could have turned sour behind the scenes.

According to The Sun, various members of Team USA headed into the European's dressing room to toast a drink to their conquers.

What followed could not have been foreseen as witnesses said '(Brooks) Koepka exploded with rage and threatened to flatten his close pal (Dustin Johnson)'.

Both men had to be separated and took to different corners of the room until the situation simmered down.

It is currently unknown how these two golfers, who are actually quite close friends off the golf course came to have such a heated exchange.

Tensions may well have been running high after a disappointing Saturday, where the pair failed to get on the scoreboard during their foursome match against Henrik Stenson and Justin Rose.

The two friends will hope that no more information comes out about such a fiery exchange.

As we all know, however, usually it doesn't take too long for further details to emerge on these sort of bust-ups.

And it just casts a further shadow on a disappointing weekend for the Americans, who had looked in such a strong position after the first session on Friday by winning three of the first four points on offer.
