David Haye has spoken about his sparring past with Deontay Wilder and how he thinks this will have a part to play in his WBC title match against Tyson Fury in December.

Whilst claiming that Fury would be the number one heavyweight ahead of Anthony Joshua if he wins his WBC heavyweight title match against Wilder - it seems that Haye also believes Fury will need to work harder if he is to be in with a chance of winning against Wilder in December.

It's a match that the world is waiting to see, it's a match that is already full of heat and drama with the first of three press conferences being abandoned due to the pair clashing and exchanging more than just a few words.

The former WBA heavyweight champion, Haye, was due to face Fury on two separate occasions before it was cancelled and also has experience of sparring Wilder.

It was those sparring sessions past with Wilder that made him realise that the American is actually the 'hardest single-punching fighter' he's ever stepped into a ring with.

“Wilder has been in two training camps with me and I would say that he has been, by far, the hardest single-punching fighter I have ever been in the ring with, fighting and sparring," Haye said, per The Sun.

Not only does Haye feel that Wilder is the hardest single-punching fighter, but added that Fury will need to get switched on from the very first bell to survive.

“With his right hand, from the first round of the first spar, I knew I had to switch on.

“I realised this guy has a different type of power and I have to be on it 100 per cent.

“We had some great rounds of sparring, dozens of rounds, and I really highly rate him."

Fury has only had two relatively easy fights so far this year since returning to the sport but there is little doubt fans will get a much clearer picture on his ability after facing Wilder.

It would seem, going off his sparring experiences with Wilder, though, that Haye is confident things will go the American's way on the night.

Haye said: “Tyson Fury is going to need to box way better than he did before. I believe the Tyson Fury that beat Wladimir Klitschko isn’t good enough to beat Deontay Wilder.”
