Jose Mourinho failed to land the three points that he so desperately needs in Manchester United’s Champions League encounter against Valencia on Tuesday. His players may have put in more effort than they did in the 3-1 defeat to West Ham United on Saturday but all they have to show for it is a point. It’s now four consecutive home matches without a win for Mourinho following the 0-0 draw at Old Trafford - the first time he has gone on such a disappointing streak in his managerial career.Marcus Rashford played with plenty of desire but the same can’t be said of his teammates.Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, two players Mourinho needs to count on to step up, failed to impress. There were cheers inside the stadium when Sanchez was subbed off in the 76th minute. He, like many of the players, has been a huge disappointment.

Valencia's Instagram activity

The pressure remains on Mourinho to sort it out but time is running out for him to do so.

Indeed, Paul Scholes admitted before kick-off that he was surprised the 55-year-old remained in charge following the defeat to West Ham.

Rumours are beginning to circulate that suggest Mourinho is losing the dressing room and Antonio Valencia’s Instagram post after the Valencia match suggests that may be the case.

Fans have spotted that he ‘liked’ a post calling for Mourinho’s exit.

The post came from a fan account dedicated to the Ecuadorian, and was also written in Spanish.

That suggests that Valencia could understand the message.

“I’m not even surprised about the outcome of this game,” the post reads.

“I always look forward to our games but recently Mourinho has made watching us a punishment now.

“Something needs to change. It’s time for Mourinho to go.”

Valencia appears to have removed his ‘like’, but it’s unsettling nonetheless.

The Daily Mail reported on Monday that the 33-year-old is barely on speaking terms with Mourinho right now after the player failed to attend Man United’s Carabao Cup defeat to Derby County.
