Frank Warren has claimed that both Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder would have no issue in knocking out Anthony Joshua should either of the heavyweights meet the three-belt champion next year.
Fury and Wilder will face off on December 1 with the Bronze Bomber's WBC title on the line and the winner is expected to face Joshua in April next year.
Joshua himself made it clear after his win against mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin that he wants to fight Wilder to settle the war of words between them.
Now Frank Warren has warned Joshua that he might struggle against either Wilder or his own fighter Fury and has expressed concerns about AJ's trainer Rob McCracken.
"If that had been Wilder catching him on the chin, or even Tyson catching him on the chin, do you think they’d have let him off the hook? The answer to that is no," he said, per The Metro.
"He’s got a big punch. He was behind in that [Povetkin] fight in my opinion, I still like him as a fighter. But I don’t look at what fighters are good at doing, I look at what are doing badly or what their flaws are.
"And his flaw is you can catch him with a right hand. He’s not hard to hit.
"I know a lot of people have a lot of respect for Rob McCracken. I don’t think he’s with a trainer who’s great at teaching boxers defence.
"Carl Froch didn’t have a great defence. Look at his nose. He didn’t have a great defence. He had a great chin. Anthony Joshua’s been clipped in every fight he’s ever had.’
"(Carlos) Takam clipped him, every one of them and he got clipped again [against Povetkin in] the first round and in the second before he knocked him out.
"He’s got a big heart. He’s got a big punch."
Joshua has already booked Wembley Stadium for next April but boxing fans may have to wait a little while before his likely opponent becomes clearer.
In the meantime, everyone's attention will turn to Wilder v Fury.
