Since the brand split in mid-2016, the last two editions of Survivor Series have focused on 'brand warfare' between Raw and SmackDown Live.2016 saw three bouts between the two shows - the Raw tag teams and women succeeded over their blue brand counterparts, whilst SmackDown's all-stars came up trumps against Raw's elite. It was all a bit different last year though. Every single match on the main card was brand against brand, with champions being matched up against each other, and Team Raw sweeping both the women's and men's elimination matches.Last year's build-up was pretty fun as it included an invasion of each brand in the weeks leading up to the event. And if the WWE go-ahead with similar thoughts for the November 18 pay-per-view, current matches would see the likes of Becky Lynch face-off against Ronda Rousey, and Roman Reigns meet AJ Styles once again. But, according to WrestleVotes, the Raw against SmackDown plan is set to be either shelved or scaled back just a tad to help include a red brand-specific five-on-five match. One of the big elimination bouts is set to be comprised of two teams built by Raw General Manager Kurt Angle, who's currently on 'vacation', and the acting GM Baron Corbin.
And it's probably correct to assume that should this happen, the leader of the winning team will gain sole control of Monday nights, just like in 2003 where Eric Bischoff's team defeated Stone Cold Steve Austin's.
It'll certainly feel a lot fresher 15 years later though, and whilst there may still be Raw versus Smackdown matches in other areas of the card, it seems that this will be the main Raw bout.
It does get complicated though in the sense that Survivor Series this year broadcasts just two weeks after WWE's next super-event in Saudi Arabia - Crown Jewel.
It could mean there are some rushed storylines and matches created because of the overload of events coming up.
But trust the creative teams to strike the right balance as we head into Super Show-Down, Crown Jewel and Survivor Series.
