There wasn't even a place on the bench for Andreas Pereira during Manchester United 0-0 Valencia.

The Red Devils laboured to a bitterly disappointing draw on Tuesday night, losing control of their Champions League group and heaping further pressure on Jose Mourinho in the process.

A negative atmosphere is circling Old Trafford at the moment and the Valencia performance only compiled that feeling with United creating few clearcut opportunities and looking tame in midfield.

Supporters certainly weren't impressed by the displays of Marouane Fellaini and Nemanja Matic who seemed to offer very little dynamism in the centre of the park.

For all their enviable defensive attributes, the fans wanted to see a little more creativity from deep and it's certainly a fair comment when you consider the few problems they gave Valencia.

Pereira struggling for game-time

The aforementioned Pereira must have been kicking himself as he watched the game and that's especially the case on the back of his performances in pre-season.

The Brazilian plied his trade at Valencia last season and left many United fans calling for his return this summer, a request that Mourinho happily obliged.

Pereira became a regular feature in the starting XI during United's tour of the United States, benefitting from so many players still recovering from World Cup duties.

Pereira's Instagram activity

He took to the opportunity with great enthusiasm, attracting praise from supporters and even securing himself a place in the team for the Premier League opener with Leicester City.

However, since the proceeding loss to Brighton & Hove Albion where he was substituted at half-time, Pereira has been reduced to late cameos.

And it seems the 22-year-old has become fed up with his time out of the team or at least that's what his Instagram activity has indicated after the Valencia draw.

That's because Pereira was seen inexplicably 'liking' a post that demands Mourinho should play him and his compatriot Fred more often.

He hasn't withdrawn his 'like' - potentially showing it was no accident - so check out the move below:

Mourinho could have something to say about this.

The activity comes just one day after Antonio Valencia was seen 'liking' a tweet that suggested Mourinho should leave the club and had to apologise for the mistake quickly after.

And although Pereira's move seems slightly more tame than that of his captain, there is no indication that he made a mistake nor regrets the move in the aftermath.

The Brazilian is certainly a confident character and has exchanged interesting comments with Mourinho in the past, particularly surrounding his decision to go out on loan last season.

Now that he's back at Old Trafford, though, first-team appearances are seeming hard to come by and his so-so performance against Brighton might have sealed his fate.

Pereira will simply have to wait on the sidelines until an opportunity arises and, given Mourinho's fondness for midfielders such as Fellaini, he'll need to grab it with both hands.

However, if deliberate, petty Instagram activity certainly won't help his case with the under fire boss.
