Lionel Messi just loves playing at Wembley.

It was the stage where the Argentine turned in one of the great solo displays in the 2011 Champions League final against Manchester United.

Fast forward seven years and Messi is still doing the same, producing an outrageous masterclass against Tottenham in the same venue on Wednesday evening.

The Barcelona forward scored twice and orchestrated everything good in the Blaugrana's 4-2 victory.

Fans, pundits and players have pretty much run out of superlatives to sum up Messi's wonderful performance.

However, Harry Winks has described the Argentine in a rather unique manner after coming up against him for the first time in his career.

The English midfielder simply said: "He has completed football."

Fair play, Harry.

“I did enjoy it,” Winks said about the game. “To play against him [Messi] was an honour.

"The result takes away a lot of the enjoyment from the game, but in years to come, when I look back and say I played against - in my opinion - the greatest player to ever play football, it will be a proud moment.

“It’s so difficult to reflect on that right now because we’ve lost and, ultimately, that’s the most important thing. I’m gutted.

“The only way I can really describe [facing him] is he’s just completed football. The man just knows where everybody is. His weight of pass is just exceptional.

"He’s just special. But everyone who has played against him has said the same thing for years."

There really isn't much more to say about the Argentine.

When fans look back on his career after his retirement, the phrase "he completed it" will probably be a fair analogy.

Messi also set two more records against Spurs.

He's now the out-and-out top goalscorer in the Champions League group stage and has scored 40+ goals for 10 years in a row.

We may never see a player like him again.
