Ahead of Sunday’s Japanese Grand Prix, Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo was recorded by Sky Sports letting out an audible cry of dismay, as a result of more qualifying woe.Ricciardo, 29, who won two races earlier in the year, has now gone 10 GPs without a podium finish and has particularly struggled since his move to Renault next season was confirmed. And it got worse in Suzuka as a loss of power in the car meant the Aussie was unable to register a time in Q2 and will start Sunday's race in 15th place. After suffering more reliability problems that were out of his control, Ricciardo was unable to contain his anger as he stormed back to the garage.Usually so calm and collected, the Red Bull ace let out an uncharacteristic roar of frustration that was unmistakenly picked up on nearby microphones.

Yep he was not happy!

After the outburst, he told reporters: “Yeah. It sure is. I just blew out my vocals, so yeah. I'm p----. I felt a loss of power out of the last corner just before I started the lap so I knew it was something. Just can't catch a break.

"Qualifying is important here, like always. I'll try and do what I can but it's pretty painful at the moment.”

Elsewhere his teammate Max Verstappen qualified in third, making it eleven straight races since he was outqualified by Ricciardo now.

While the young Dutchman seemed to thrive in the rainy conditions, Sebastian Vettel didn't and another tyre strategy gaffe saw him register a time that was only good enough for 9th.

“It’s not the position we deserve to be in, we have better speed than ninth, but tomorrow is a new day, it’s not easy when you start further back but it’s not impossible,” the German said.

That will make Lewis Hamilton feel even happier as he will start pole and looks far quicker than anyone else on the grid this weekend.
