The momentous and record-breaking occasion that UFC 229 was supposed to be is now forever going to be marred by what happened following the main event.Khabib Nurmagomedov called Conor McGregor out publicly after UFC 205, and the two men finally met inside of the Octagon after the highly-criticised bus incident earlier this year in Brooklyn.

AND STILL

The build-up was short yet fiery, with many claiming the Notorious took his words too far by touching on subjects that many believed were off limits.

Inside of the cage, though, the dangerous Dagestani did what he promised and wore the Irishman down by multiple takedowns.

Nurmagomedov even knocked McGregor down in the second round.

In the end, Khabib decided to end the fight in the fourth round after he managed to get McGregor's back and locked in the rear-naked chokehold to leave McGregor tapping out once more.

However, it's the mass brawl that Nurmagomedov ignited which is sadly stealing all of the headlines.

BRAWL

Joe Rogan and Dominick Cruz revealed that Dillon Danis - McGregor's training partner - was aiming verbal assaults at the Russian. Following the fight, Khabib jumped the cage and attacked him - but cameras also saw what happened inside of the cage during the melee on the outside.

Reports are claiming that McGregor first attacked one of Nurmagomedov's men inside of the Octagon, but footage has shown another member of Khabib's team jumping over the cage and attacked Conor from behind.

Now, it's been revealed exactly who was responsible for hitting McGregor with a cheap shot - and it's someone McGregor has already called out.

'CHECHEN TRAITOR'

The first insults started on Instagram, with McGregor taking aim at Khabib's father and also Zubaira Tukhugov, a UFC featherweight.

Fans might know that McGregor published a post about him, stating that he was a Chechen traitor by siding with the Dagestani Nurmagomedov.

Back in August, Conor posted: "A true Chechen would never assist in a Dagestani led attack on another Chechen. A true Chechen would never take orders from a Dagestani man. This is treason. There is no worse than treason."

Earlier this week, Tukhugov already claimed he'd like to meet Conor outside of the Octagon once the event was over, but now talk is turning to what could happen to Nurmagomedov following his actions.

To make matters even more interesting, Tukhugov is still scheduled - as of this writing - to fight Artem Lobov later this month.
