The early hours of Sunday morning saw one of the biggest fights in UFC history with Conor McGregor squaring off against Khabib Nurmagomedov at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The animosity between both fighters were known to everyone, and it was witnessed throughout the build up to the fight itself. The grandstand event on the mixed martial arts sporting calendar delivered a phenomenal show at UFC 229, but the incidents moments after the conclusion of the main event took everyone present by surprise.Khabib’s brilliant grappling skill-set was evident from the start as he dominated McGregor, mauling him on the ground. The former two-division champion managed to survive the moves from the Russian ace initially, but seemed visibly worn out as time went by.It was in the fourth round when Khabib came to his elements, completely taking control of proceedings as his 30-year-old counterpart tapped out to a rear-naked choke with referee Herb Dean indicating the end.Seconds after, Khabib headed straight towards the McGregor corner, climbed over the cage and sparked melee in the crowd.Meanwhile, a member from the Nurmagomedov camp entered the ring and started throwing punches on McGregor which further escalated the chaos in and around.Security personnel and police intervened immediately and did a brilliant job to control the madness inside the arena. But, microphones captured one particular action which did not escape the cameras as well.As Khabib demanded to be presented his title inside the Octagon, UFC chief Dana White told him he is not going to do so, considering the repercussions from the crowd present at the venue during the time.

White told Nurmagomedov: “Here’s what is going to happen… this is what I believe, if I put this belt on you, everybody is going to throw s**t into the Octagon.”

The lightweight champion then entered into a shouting match with the American supremo which ended with UFC choosing to skip the traditional post-fight interview to restore order at the scene.

Probably one of the ugliest scenarios in UFC’s history, despite fighters making millions from the showdown as well as extra-ordinary pay-per-view numbers.

But, the consequences of the actions during the aftermath would determine the way forward for MMA, with authorities ready to call the shots as they continue to examine the footage of the brawl and the persons involved in it.
