The Aston Villa hot seat has been a hot topic of discussion since Steve Bruce was given his marching orders earlier this week.He took over from Roberto di Matteo in October 2016 as the club struggled to adapt to life in the Championship after being relegated the season prior.Bruce guided Villa from 19th to 13th in what was a rocky first season, but what he achieved in his second term proved just why the club sought his services. The 57-year-old missed out on securing promotion to the Premier League courtesy of a 1-0 defeat to Fulham in the play-off final at Wembley.Rather than backing up such an impressive effort, though, Villa seem to have carried their disappointment into the new campaign.Last year’s play-off runners-up are 15th in the Championship with three wins, six draws and three defeats from 12 matches. With a return to the top-flight being their primary aim, it’s hardly surprising Bruce was given little time to get them back on track.Thierry Henry and John Terry have been mentioned as the two frontrunners for the vacancy, and after interviewing both candidates, Villa have made a decision. The Mail claims Henry is set to be offered the job due to his broader managerial experience - however, he’s hand-picked Terry to become his assistant.Martin Keown - a former teammate of the Arsenal striker - believes Villa could be appointing a potentially brilliant albeit surprising duo.“I can safely say that I never ever saw those two as a partnership. But never be surprised in football," he told BT Sport, via the Express.“I think Henry always had the makings of being an outstanding manager, there’s no doubt about that.“He feels fit to bring Terry as his assistant, he will know the club exceptionally well, of course he will. He’s only just left the football club.”So, could Henry and Terry be the duo to guide Villa back to their former glory?Fans certainly seem to think so…

While it would be very interesting to see how Henry and Terry get on as a managerial partnership, there’s definitely an element of risk involved, too.

Neither has any experience as a head coach, though the Frenchman’s work as Roberto Martinez’s assistant with Belgium national team should count for something.
