After a feud that's been going on for the best part of two years, Daniel Bryan and The Miz were set to do-battle in Australia yesterday at Super Show-Down for big stakes.

A future shot at the WWE Championship was on the line, and the Melbourne crowd was set to be treated to an epic encounter.

The pair had faced-off for the first time in a singles match since Bryan's return to the ring at SummerSlam, where the 'A-lister' picked up a cheap victory with the use of a pair of brass knuckles.

Then at Hell In A Cell, Miz's wife Maryse pinned Bryan's other-half Brie Bella in a mixed tag match, leading to the next showdown between them in-front of 70,000 people.

But the match was shockingly concluded in two minutes and 25 seconds via a small package pin, which led to a huge silence inside the arena, as no-one could quite believe it happened.

In-fact it looked like someone within the match had majorly botched the planned ending, but Bryan's music hit almost instantly which suggested that nothing was awry.

And Richard Trionfo speculated the reason for the very-short match time on PW Insider's radio show.

“It got me thinking back to Daniel Bryan’s days as Bryan Danielson on the independent scene he always talked about how he had the best small package in wrestling," said Trionfo.

"It can not be kicked out of. So I’m hoping what we get is leading up to AJ Styles vs Daniel Bryan we’ll talk about that match cause we don’t know what’s going to happen.

“I hope we get a bunch of Daniel Bryan matches where he just beats people with the small package. So it kind of takes away from the flying knee.”

Very interesting, but sounds like a far-fetched reason for actually having such a short match, and you can't blame the Aussie crowd for feeling robbed.

A more obvious explanation would be that they're saving something special for a potential WrestleMania match in April 2019, but whether that happens remains to be seen.
