Khabib Nurmagomedov could face severe punishment for his actions following Saturday night's victory over Conor McGregor at UFC 229.In a shocking attack, the Russian climbed over the Octagon cage and jumped straight into McGregor's team in the crowd. Fists were flying.McGregor was in a brawl of his own, too, as Nurmagomedov's partner sucker punched him inside the ring.Dana White and Michael Bisping have both warned Nurmagomedov could receive criminal charges and maybe even have his lightweight title stripped, despite defending it.Nurmagomedov, though, believes McGregor should be held accountable for what happened because of his behaviour in the build-up to the fight."I want to say sorry to the athletic commission, sorry to [Las] Vegas," said the 30-year-old. "I know this is not my best side.""I don't understand how people can say I jumped on the cage. He talked about my religion, my family, he came to Brooklyn and could have killed people on the bus."Why are we talking about me climbing on the cage. My father taught me to be respectful. Today he tapped, the belt is here, undisputed, undefeated UFC lightweight champion."This is a respectful sport, not a trash-talking sport. I want to change the game, you cannot talk about religion, about nationality."McGregor infamously attacked Nurmagomedov's team bus back in April and has also been accused of making racist comments towards his opponent.A reaction from Nurmagomedov was always to be expected and now close-up footage has surfaced that puts you right in the middle of his brawl afterwards.

McGregor's teammate, Dillon Danis, was the target of Nurmagomedov's attack and you can see the pair scrapping throughout the video before being split up.

Nurmagomedov must now wait to discover his fate.
