Brendan Rodgers insists he is “loving every second” of his time at Celtic amid Aston Villa speculation.

Reports claim the Northern Irishman is interesting the midlands club who are searching for a replacement for Steve Bruce, who was sacked following a troublesome start to the new Championship campaign.

Bruce, who has an incredible record of getting teams out of the Championship and into the Premier League, has left Villa in 15th place, having won just three of their opening 11 games.

The Villains lost away from home at the weekend following Bruce's dismissal, falling to a 2-1 defeat away at Millwall.

The latest loss leaves them on just 15 points from 12 games, winning three, drawing six, and losing three.

What's more concerning for Villa is the amount of goals they are leaking so far this season, potentially down to the departure of John Terry over the summer.

Villa have conceded 20 goals so far this season, with only one club conceding more. Preston North End, who are 22nd, have conceded 24.

So with Bruce out of the picture, it's time for a new man to take over the reigns in the Midlands, and Rodgers is just one name being linked.

The former Swansea and Liverpool boss, who has guided the Hoops to back-to-back domestic trebles, recently revealed he had rejected overtures from a Chinese club in the summer.

After the 6-0 win over St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park in the Ladbrokes Premiership, Celtic boss Rodgers was asked about the Villa rumours and said: “I have been linked with a number of things and I’m sure that when clubs need a manager there is always a raft of names mentioned.

“It is a huge club, a Premier League club, great facilities as I said it before when John McGinn (Celtic target) was going.

“Brilliant support base, big history, but I am sure they will know who they want to go in there.

“I have a great job here, a very exciting challenge this season and I am loving every second of it.

“So yeah, you can’t rule me out because I have never been asked.”
