Paul Pogba might just have a future at Manchester United under Jose Mourinho following Saturday's victory over Newcastle.

United came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 thanks to late goals from Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez.

But it was Pogba who was most instrumental as he ran the show from deep-lying midfield and provided the assist for Martial to make it 2-2.

Just look at the numbers the Frenchman produced: 111 touches, 78 passes, two chances created, six shots, 15 duels, 10 recoveries, 11.5km covered and 14 sprints.

Five of those statistics were the highest of any United player, which proves just how good Pogba was at the Theatre of Dreams.

He also played an important role in Mourinho's half-time team talk at 2-0 down. The Sun report that Pogba advised his manager on substitutions and tactics.

"During half-time we opened our hearts and we spoke about tactical changes for two minutes," said Mourinho in his post-match press conference.

POGBA THE GAME CHANGER

"Then we spoke for eight minutes about other things that I thought would let the players be a little bit more free to face the second half and it became 3-2. Amazing."

Pogba and Mourinho have been at each other's throats all season but against Newcastle they showed unity and worked together.

And it would appear Pogba was making efforts to repair United's dire situation even before the match as he, Mata and Luke Shaw organised 'clear-the-air talks' in training.

United players all had their say about recent events at Carrington and it's reported that Mourinho wasn't at the meeting.

However, again according to The Sun, the Portuguese knows it took place and is "happy his players have taken responsibility".

"The inquest was without Jose and between a load of the senior members of playing staff," a source at United said.

"A few home truths were spoken after some of the poor performances this season. It was good to clear the air. A number of players stood up and said their piece.

"It had been coming for a while and was good for everyone. Nothing should be read into the fact Jose was not there. He wants the squad to take some responsibility for their actions."

United remain in a bad place, but the comeback against Newcastle and Pogba and Mourinho seemingly resolving their differences suggests there is light at the end of the tunnel.
