For judges and spectators alike, it was clear to see where the fight was heading from the get-go, with Khabib consistently taking Conor McGregor to the mat and trying to force a submission at every opportunity, and while he eventually got his reward, Notorious managed something that no-one else has against Nurmagomedov in the UFC.For the first time in his 11 fights under the UFC banner, Khabib Nurmagomedov dropped a round to the former Lightweight and Featherweight Champion. The scorecards for the fight were released via Twitter and showed that while Khabib took rounds one and two - rather unsurprisingly - the Russian was bested in round three. The bout was without a doubt at its most competitive in round three, as both competitors took to slugging it out, which suited McGregor better. The round ended without a takedown from the champ and it seemed as if the fight was set to open up from there on.Unfortunately for McGregor, it was just the start of the end, as three minutes into round four he was caught off-guard with a rear-naked choke, adding to the ever-growing impressive CV of Nurmagomedov. The fight didn't end there, however, with a fired up Khabib hopping over the Octagon straight into McGregor's corner, where he began trading shots with Dillon Danis. This resulted in a tussle between McGregor and Khabib's teammates within the ring, who made a beeline for the Irishman in the midst of the melee outside.

Reports of a rematch were immediately rumoured, and Dana White told ESPN's First Take podcast: "McGregor has already called me, wanting a rematch... That's what Conor asked for. We'll see what happens with Khabib and what's next."

White refers to Khabib, who awaits disciplinary action for his post-match brawl that was more akin to WWE than UFC itself.

If the rematch is booked, what a build up that will be.
