It was the biggest win of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s career but nobody is really talking about his victory over Conor McGregor at UFC 229.The Russian dominated the fight before he ended it with a neck crank submission in round four, defending the UFC Lightweight Championship.Khabib should have been picking up his $2 million cheque, parading around the octagon with his belt and celebrating his 27-0-0 record. However, ‘The Eagle’ had other ideas and decided to jump out of the cage to attack McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis. It led to an almighty melee outside of the octagon, while McGregor himself traded punches with a member of Nurmagomedov’s party. It was carnage and it’s dominated headlines in the aftermath of Khabib’s victory. We’re not quite sure exactly what punishment Nurmagomedov will receive but Nevada State Athletic Commission has withheld his purse and there’s a belief that Khabib could be stripped of his belt. After the fight, Khabib attempted to defend his actions by claiming it was McGregor’s fault for ‘disrespecting’ him."First of all, I want to say sorry to athletic commission, Nevada, sorry to Vegas. This is not my best side,” Nurmagomedov said."He talk about my religion, he talk about my country, he talk about my father, he come to Brooklyn and he broke bus,” Nurmagomedov said. “He almost kill a couple of people. Worry about this. Worry about this s—t. Why people talk about I jump over the cage? I don’t understand.

“This is respect sport. This is not trash talking sport. I want to change this game. I don't want people talk shit about opponents, talk shit about his father, religion. You cannot talk about religion, nation, you cannot talk about this stuff. This for me is very important. I know my father is gonna smash me when I go home.”

To be fair, this is totally out of character for Khabib.

And a video has emerged that shows how Khabib usually treats his opponents after winning a fight - with the upmost respect.

The video is captioned: "If you deserve respect, Khabib will always respect you, but if you treat him politely, he will make you lose in a horrible way."

Take a look:

Khabib is quick to acknowledge his opponents after each victory if they’ve treated him with respect in the build-up to the fight.

Of course, the video certainly doesn’t excuse Khabib’s behaviour after beating McGregor.

However, it does show that Khabib’s behaviour was definitely out of character and that he shouldn’t be judged on this one act.
