Khabib Nurmagomedov could face severe punishment following his attack on Dillon Danis after beating Conor McGregor at UFC 229.Nurmagomedov, who won by submission in the fourth round, jumped over the Octagon cage and launched himself at Danis in the crowd to spark a mass brawl. It's being reported that the Russian could be banned, fined the whole $2m purse and stripped of the Lightweight Championship by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC).However, according to Dana White, Nurmagomedov should keep his title and only be fined $250,000, alongside a four to six month ban."They took his whole purse right now and they're talking about keeping his purse," said White. "I do not think that that should happen."You should not be able to keep his whole purse. I think they should take [$250,000] from him. [He] absolutely keeps his title."And he's going to get suspended, so maybe you give him a four to six months suspension."Footage shows Nurmagomedov was goaded by Danis to come into the crowd and confront him after the fight, so the 30-year-old certainly wasn't the only guilty one.

KHABIB ATTACKS DANIS

Joe Rogan was at the T-Mobile Arena and he claims Danis was insulting Nurmagomedov, even though he couldn't hear anything.

"We couldn't hear what he said, but Dillon absolutely was insulting Khabib and saying something to him and provoking him," said Rogan on the Joe Rogan Experience.

Rogan was speaking to McGregor's coach, John Kavanagh, on the show but Kavanagh gave an alternative version of events.

Kavanagh, who was stood right next to Danis, reckons he didn't say anything to Nurmagomedov but did beckon him to come down.

"He actually didn't say anything," said the trainer. "Now I was standing beside Dillon, I didn't see what he did but I could hear. He didn't say anything.

"Now when I watched it back I've seen he kind of beckoned him on, you know, just stupid end of fight stuff."

So there you have it, Danis didn't actually say anything to instigate the scrap but hand gestures were enough to send Nurmagomedov over the egde.

Kavanagh hopes the Russian isn't punished too heavily: "I hope they're lenient on him and not just so we can get a rematch.

"I love watching him fight for a start and I can stretch myself to understand his reaction. For Khabib he jumped over the cage and he jumped someone. It's not the end of the world."
