The dust is still settling from UFC 229.Events on Saturday evening in Las Vegas will be talked about for months after a brawl broke out following Khabib Nurmagomedov's victory over Conor McGregor. The Dagestan wrestling machine submitted the Irishman in the fourth round, but jumped over the cage moments later to attack Dillon Danis. Two of Khabib's entourages then began attacking McGregor in the ring, although footage suggests the Notorious may have landed the first blow of the altercation. It was chaos and it was a miracle that no one was seriously injured from the bare-knuckled exchanges.Inside the Octagon, McGregor was comfortably outfought, with Khabib even showcasing his boxing skills with a stunning second-round knockdown.Much has been said about McGregor's lacklustre display, but popular UFC commentator Jon Anik has shed some new light on the Irishman's mindset shortly before the fight. He states that there were a lot of minor issues backstage that he believes affected the way the Notorious approached the bout.

"All of a sudden on fight night, it seemed like his [McGregor] colour was gone," Anik said.

"His confidence didn't seem there, the smile wasn't there, there were maybe some rumblings about some things or some circumstances backstage but Khabib handled the fight part of this with flying colours and proved that he probably is the most dominant force in the game, as advertised."

Interesting. When asked on Twitter to elaborate on what happened backstage, Anik posted an intriguing message.

Anik wrote: "No not injured. I was just told it was unnecessarily chaotic back there, lot of people coming in and out of the locker room.

"He also got wrapped by a cutman who hadn’t wrapped him before supposedly, which, while no big deal, still deviated from his norm. That’s all."

While a normal build-up to the fight probably wouldn't have changed the result, it clearly didn't help McGregor against probably the most dominant force in UFC right now.
