If there's one superstar who can get the crowd behind him despite being a dastardly heel, it's Kevin Owens.

The former Universal, United States and Intercontinental Champion loves to insult the crowd and commit cowardly attacks, but we saw something a bit different during this past Monday on Raw.

When Owens competed on Raw against Bobby Lashley last week, the Chicago crowd were well-behind the Canadian, who seems to be popular in the so-called 'smart' cities.

And it was there that WWE executed a heel turn on Lashley - who wrapped Owens' legs around the ring post multiple times following his victory.

It seemed like what we saw on Monday night was a double turn, and a babyface Owens would be something different considering he's never played that character on the main roster.

But it was revealed this week that the reason for the whole injury angle was because the 'Prizefighter' is genuinely hurt - and unfortunately needs surgery on his knee.

And that means he joins his friend Sami Zayn on the sidelines, who's been missing from the ring since June after having surgery on both of his rotator cuffs.

Ringside News have revealed their sources have told them that the two are set to return at different times - but could very-well both come back as fan-favourites.

They state that Owens is expected back in December, and Zayn will take a bit longer to recover - February to be exact for his return - but you can assume that they'll re-unite when they're both back together on Raw.

WWE may have been clever here, as Zayn's last match before going off for an operation was against Lashley, so both could potentially return at the same time to get revenge on the former ECW World Champion.

Whilst it may not be as good of a character as his brutal, no-nonsense heel persona, Owens desperately needs some momentum when he returns, as it feels like he's done nothing at all since his split from Chris Jericho.
