The talk of the sporting world in the past week has been Khabib Nurmagomedov's crushing defeat of Conor McGregor at UFC 229 in Las Vegas.McGregor tapping out, then the chaotic aftermath has dominated headlines, but Khabib has done a lot of his talking on social media whilst he waits to see his punishment for the ordeal.Khabib caused a stir with his WWE-related tweet this week following the fallout of UFC 229, and it drew the ire of several wrestling fans and superstars. The UFC lightweight champion stated on his Twitter: "@WWE ask me to jump inside.
What do you think guys? #SmashLesnar #FakeFights."

No-one really knew at the time whether Khabib was being serious or not, let alone if it was him or his team who sent the tweet.

But even if it was true, you can't imagine WWE would want anything to do with him when he calls the promotion 'fake fighting'.

However if the disillusioned Khabib does want to step away from UFC, Vince McMahon surely wouldn't think twice about trying to bring the Russian into the squared circle, just like he did with Ronda Rousey.

And Ringside News have now revealed that talks have actually taken place between WWE and Nurmagomedov's team, but they weren't as recent as when Khabib sent out his tweet.

Their sources have said that it was over two months ago when the company reached out, so it was long before all the controversy of last weekend.

The idea behind the contact is to do with a potential big show in Russia - and it seems highly plausible considering WWE have broke into the likes of Saudi Arabia and Australia to conduct big-money deals for pay-per-view events.

And getting 'The Eagle' on-board would be huge business, with Ringside claiming that Vince McMahon and other officials want his 'assistance'.

That could mean anything, but considering McMahon and Dana White have had a fruitful working relationship in the past, with Rousey's WrestleMania 31 appearance and Brock Lesnar's flip-flopping between the two businesses, a deal for Khabib has all the chance in the world of taking place.
