We are just two days away from the historic 1000th episode of SmackDown Live, and we have to be honest - the line-up could be a little-more star-studded.

We will see the return of popular stable Evolution, even though the group reigned terror on Raw between 2003 and 2005 and not SmackDown.

The Undertaker will also make an appearance on his former brand, his first since confronting Team SmackDown before their 2016 Survivor Series elimination match against Raw.

And it was revealed on last weeks episode that Rey Mysterio will begin his latest full-time stint with the company when he takes on Shinsuke Nakamura, in a WWE World Cup tournament qualifying match.

Another man who was a focal point of the blue brand in the 2000s was Edge, who sadly had to retire prematurely due to a neck injury in 2011, despite being in the middle of a World Heavyweight Championship run.

He's made sporadic appearances since then though, always getting a huge reaction when he returns.

And after a while of denying that the company had asked him, WWE finally announced that the 'Rated-R Superstar' would be hosting a special episode of 'The Cutting Edge' in Washington D.C. this Tuesday.

But it seems like - as always in the WWE - plans may have changed once again.

It seems as though the link to the article that announced Edge's return is now re-directing to another page on the official website, and with his name also taken off the advertised list of stars appearing, it seems like we may not see the 11-time world champion after all.

It's interesting timing considering a report came out in the last few days stating that Edge's former tag partner Christian hasn't been invited to appear on the show.

It would be a huge disappointment especially as of now there's not a great deal of returning faces revealed, although you never know, Vince may have a few aces up his sleeve to surprise the WWE Universe on the night.
