There have been many different sports which have delivered us some incredible sporting stories for hundreds of years now, and there will no doubt be many more to come for as long as we have sport to enjoy.
One potentially wonderful sporting story is that of the Schumacher family, who are one of the biggest names in motorsport thanks to the huge success of arguably the greatest ever Formula One driver Michael Schumacher.
The Schumacher family have had some hard times of it in recent years, following the skiing accident which left the sporting great in a coma, but they also have a wonderful story unfolding too, thanks to the successes of 19-year-old Mick Schumacher.
Mick Schumacher was always going to have big racing boots to fill due to how hugely successful his father was, but he is already showing that he has that racing gene from his father, with his own racing career already impressing.
This weekend, Mick Schumacher won the F3 title in only his second season at this level, finishing second at Hockenheim to take the world crown with one race to spare.
The victory also gave Mick the required points to gain his FIA Super License, which will allow the young star to follow in his father's footsteps into Formula One.
While there will no doubt be plenty of teams in Formula One wanting to sign up Mick Schumacher, the young driver will bide his time and wait for the right moment to make his move into F1, with his next step being a seat at a team in F2 next season.
For now, Mick Schumacher is not even a part of any of the Young Driver setups that the top teams in Formula One have, but there is no doubt that he will be racing in Formula 1 in the very near future.
His father Michael Schumacher became a Ferrari legend and the team have insisted that the door will always be open for Mick Schumacher to make a name for himself alongside his father in one of the greatest teams in motorsport.
Another man who is in the sport and full of praise for Mick is Mercedes boss Toto Wolff, and following the German's success, Wolff had the following to say.
“Congratulations to Mick on winning the FIA Formula 3 European Championship title. Attention was focused on the youngster right from the start, and he was under a lot of pressure.
“It's not easy coping with all that, especially if the season does not get off to the best of starts, as in this case. His performance in the second half of the season was therefore all the more impressive.
“He has shown that he has what it takes and that he can become one of the greats in our sport.
“We are also obviously delighted that he registered a 500th race win for Mercedes in F3 and that he secured the title in a Mercedes-powered car.”
Does Mick Schumacher have what it takes to become a Formula One great, just like his father? Only time will tell, but he is certainly proving that he has his father's racing gene in his blood.
