Referee v Ramos

The allotted seven minutes of stoppage time had already been played when Ramos headed in a late consolation goal.

Immediately after making it 3-2, Ramos attempted to hype up the crowd - but the referee, Szymon Marciniak, quickly blew the full-time whistle.

Ramos was fuming with the referee - and Liverpool fans on social media couldn't have enjoyed it any more.

Evidently, he's still a very unpopular man on Merseyside.

They really, really don't like Sergio Ramos.

Meanwhile, Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata was booked for his animated protests and Sergio Busquets could be in hot water for throwing the ball in the referee's direction.

Speaking after the game, Ramos described England as "world class" but lamented Spain's abject first half performance.

"We gifted the first half [to England] with mistakes," said the Spanish captain. "A team like England condemns you, because they're a world class national team with great individuals."

"We reacted really well in the second half, forcing England back into their area. We did a lot of things well to get back into the game."

"It's a shame because it brings a good run to an end and a win would have put us in the final four [of the UEFA Nations League].

"Now we have another chance against Croatia."
