SmackDown Live 1000 is in the books and the WWE will consider it a very successful show.
It was pretty much entertaining from start to finish and the WWE gave themselves a lot of talent to fit in the show in just two hours.
Of course, Evolution was promoted ahead of time and many fans were left scratching their heads why. After all, although Randy Orton and Batista are legends on the Blue Brand, the group as a collective never even once appeared on SmackDown.
However, the announcement of the Undertaker's appearance made much more sense. Much more.
The Deadman was a staple of SmackDown from 2002 all the way until the end of his full-time in-ring career in around 2010.
Lately, the Phenom has been embroiled in a feud with D-Generation-X (yes, this is 2018) alongside his brother Kane and they are set to clash at Crown Jewel.
Quite smartly, Vince McMahon saved Undertaker for the main event slot on the biggest show in SmackDown history, but many fans were not happy with what 'Taker ended up actually doing.
The 53-year-old said one solitary sentence in the ring and it was something he said as recently as Monday Night Raw. He said he had three words for DX, rest in peace. Wow.
Obviously, the show had run out of time and that's why they had Undertaker's music interrupt Rey Mysterio's celebration, too.
But still, one of the biggest attractions the WWE has and one of the most advertised elements of the 1000th show, only goes out and does that?
It would be interesting to know exactly what he was originally meant to do and talk about, and even perhaps what segments ran too long that meant 'Taker didn't get the time he needed.
Or, maybe that was exactly as Vince planned it and in that case, that was a really poor decision.
It was a disappointing end to one of the best SmackDowns in recent memory, will the tag match between the legends at Crown Jewel follow suit?
