Only one title match took place on WWE SmackDown 1000 this week, a SmackDown Tag Team Championship match between The New Day and The Bar.

The match of Big E and Xavier Woods vs Sheamus and Cesaro was a typical title match on WWE's blue brand as well until very near the end.

This was when a former WWE Champion interrupted the match and turned heel by choke slamming Kofi Kingston through an announce table.

The superstar in question was the Big Show, as The World's Largest Athlete turned heel by attacking Kingston at ringside.

The attack subsequently distracted Big E in the ring, who then turned around to receive a Brogue Kick from Sheamus and a pin to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship.

Big Show's heel turn certainly caught many WWE fans off-guard as they weren't expecting it, despite the fact he has turned heel countless times in the past.

It's unclear as to why The World's Largest Athlete interfered in the match, as when he was asked backstage after the contest had finished, he simply gave a shoulder shrug.

Perhaps he wanted to win one more title before retiring from the WWE, and helping The Bar win the SmackDown Tag Team titles will now give him that through the Freebird Rule if Sheamus and Cesaro make him part of their tag team.

Fingers crossed Big Show provides more of an explanation to his actions on next week's show.

Nevertheless, his involvement in the SmackDown Tag Team title picture adds an interesting new dynamic to the feud between The New Day and The Bar, stopping their consistent bouts from going stale.

The World's Largest Athlete had only returned to WWE last week, taking part in his first match since September 2017 after taking several months off for hip surgery.

Although it is yet to be confirmed, a rematch between The New Day and The Bar for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship will take place at WWE Crown Jewel next month on November 2. Big Show will likely be there as well.
