Rey Mysterio made his triumphant return last night to WWE at SmackDown 1000.It was revealed a few weeks ago that the Master of the 619 had signed a two-year full-time deal to return to the company that he debuted for in 2002.The blue brand was his home in the early years, and was part of the famous SmackDown Six that put the show on the map, which included Edge, Kurt Angle, Chavo Guerrero, Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero. And after a 13 year stint with the promotion, Mysterio left for pastures new in 2015 as he sought a fresh challenge, following numerous injuries that kept him on the sidelines. But after freshening himself up at the likes of Lucha Underground and New Japan Pro Wrestling, Mysterio was clearly ready to return 'home', and he impressed enough at both the Royal Rumble in January and the Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia in April to be offered a deal.At 43 years of age it's perhaps surprising to see that Mysterio still possesses the same high-flying offense that he used in his younger days, and he showed on SmackDown that he can still be a force in the main event picture. His opponent was United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura in a World Cup qualifier, in what was a first-time-ever bout, and it didn't disappoint for the limited amount of time they had to work with. With most things in the evening seeming rushed, both competitors got all their moves in, and of course on his first night back Mysterio dropped the King of Strong Style with his patented 619.He then paid tribute to his best friend Eddie Guerrero in his own special way - with a springboard Frog Splash to a prone Nakamura for the victory.

Pure class from Rey.

Eddie was a huge part of SmackDowns history, who could possibly forget the epic tag battles of the SmackDown Six, and of course the feud between the two over custody of Rey's son, Dominick.

And the WWE Universe loved the fitting tribute to the Hall of Famer.

We're sure Eddie was smiling down from heaven watching on as Mysterio gave his respects on a historic night for the blue brand.
