There isn’t a player that divides opinion quite like Romelu Lukaku. You can’t really argue with the stats. For Everton, the Belgian striker managed 87 goals in 166 appearances. And following his £75 million move to Manchester United, he’s managed 31 goals in 62 matches. As for his international career, Lukaku has notched an incredible 45 goals in 79 appearances for Belgium. Not bad for a 25-year-old.However, despite the stats, many believe Lukaku is actually over-rated.There’s little doubt that he needs to work on his touch, while he’s also guilty of squandering golden opportunities in front of goal. And now, United legend Paul Scholes has given his opinion on Lukaku - insisting ‘he’s not good enough’ for a club that wants to win the Premier League.“I’m just not sure you are ever going to win the league with a goal scorer like him,” Scholes said to ESPN when asked about Lukaku.“I don't think his play outside of the box is good enough.

“I’m not sure if he works hard enough but he's still a young man who has done well and scored a lot of goals. He's quick and strong, but Lukaku is one of many United players who look like they're short of confidence.

“I don't think he realises how good he can be, but he needs help because who else can play centre-forward at United now?”

Very honest from Scholes - and it’s an opinion that got United fans talking.

But the BT Sport pundit went on to admit that Lukaku might benefit from having more competition for his centre-forward position.

"We had four centre-forwards -- [Andy] Cole, Teddy [Sheringham], Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] and [Dwight] Yorke -- and when they through bad spells, which every footballer does, someone else was waiting to come in," Scholes said.

"That helped their performances because they knew that if they didn't perform then they would be taken off. Maybe Lukaku needs that, too."
