SmackDown 1000 was a night full of returns, and WWE Hall of Famer Edge was just one of a number who came back to the blue brand for one night only. The Rated-R Superstar had some joyous moments on SmackDown in his career, such as winning many World Heavyweight Championships. He was back last night though to host a special edition of his talk show The Cutting Edge, and his guest was none-other than the current SmackDown Women's Champion Becky Lynch.Edge compared Lynch's rise to the top of the division to that of his, in that they both weren't hand-picked to be top stars but they made it on their own terms. But he soon switched tracks to tell Becky that she made the wrong choice in ditching her friendship with title rival Charlotte Flair for success, even though that is what Edge did when he was at the peak of his powers. And when the Canadian star told Lynch she would end up not liking herself for the way that she's being, the Lass-kicker went on the offensive."I don't like myself - I love myself. Now stop being so condescending to the Champ and get out of my ring," said Becky. And then came the mother of all comedowns for the Hall of Famer."Careful you don't hurt your neck again going through those ropes."That one hits very close to home considering Edge had to retire from the job he loved due to neck injuries. It all ended with a brawl between Lynch and Charlotte once again, as the anticipation builds for their Last Woman Standing match at Evolution on October 28.And Lynch posted a tweet following the show asserting her belief that she's currently the best thing about WWE.

Despite the brutality of her words towards Edge, her legion of fans absolutely loved the direction, despite once again the nature of her promo being that of a heel character despite the cheers she still gets.

If this eventually brings us a Beth Phoenix return to defend her husband's honour against Lynch, we are absolutely all for this angle continuing.
