Loris Karius looked to turn around his career with a move to Besiktas this summer.

After enjoying a decent end to the season with Liverpool, his world came crashing down with a nightmare performance in the Champions League final with two desperate mistakes.

Such was the nature of that display, that just a single game looked to end his reign as Liverpool's number one and especially after errors against Tranmere Rovers and Borussia Dortmund.

However, taking himself away from the limelight at Besiktas looked the perfect decision and the passionate fans in Istanbul quickly rallied around him.

There were a few questions raised about his performance on his debut but after that, the German strung together a series of impressive displays.

Karius' start at Besiktas

It left Kopites wondering whether the 25-year-old could return to Anfield one day and had the fans in Turkey rubbing their hands together.

That being said, his return to form at Besiktas faltered during Europa League duties when he went viral for an awful mistake against Malmo.

Karius inexplicably conceded a cross, grabbing the crossbar as the ball looped over him and found the back of the net, giving supporters a rush of memories from Kiev.

Besiktas to drop Karius

Since then, though, news has slowly stalled regarding Karius and it makes Premier League fans wonder how is career in Turkey is looking now.

Well, it seems that newfound promise has quickly evolved into familiar worries with a report in the Turkish media setting off alarm bells about the Liverpool loanee.

That's because Fotomac - the country's most popular sports newspaper - has reported that Karius will be dropped for Besiktas' next Europa League fixture.

Manager Senol Gunes will place Karius on the bench against Malmo, bringing in Tolga Zengin, amid concerns about the pressure being put on the German.

Worrying stuff indeed and it certainly makes fans wonder whether Karius is still struggling mentally from a turbulent few months.

Of course, only time will tell whether Fotomac have got their report correct, but Liverpool fans will be hoping that Karius isn't feeling the pressure over 1,000 miles away.

There's no doubt that the 25-year-old has the potential to be a top European goalkeeper, yet even a move to Turkey doesn't guarantee some peace away from the spotlight.

Hopefully, he can go onto make the number one jersey his own with Besiktas and ensure fans have more to remember him by than that night in Kiev.

Karius has shown on more than one occasion what he can do in Turkey and it would be gutting to see him take a place on the bench.
