Floyd Mayweather couldn't resist getting himself involved in the aftermath of Khabib Nurmagomedov's victory over Conor McGregor last week.

With the UFC bout breaking the pay-per-view record for the sport, the win has propelled Nurmagomedov into a wider audience and he's already exploring his next move.

There has been talk of a move to Bellator with 50 Cent making a number of offers across social media, but the Russian could also make a sensational switch to boxing.

The 30-year-old decided to call out Mayweather after extending his record to 27-0-0 and 'Money' quickly accepted the offer, insisting that they will fight sooner rather than later.

A few sticking points still remain with the location of Las Vegas potentially proving tricky, Tony Ferguson lurking for a lightweight title shot and the crucial debate of boxing or MMA.

Potential Mayweather vs Khabib fight

Unsurprisingly, Mayweather has insisted since the call-out that any fight would happen in the ring as opposed to the octagon, so it's up to Nurmagomedov to plot a potential switch.

Of course, if Nurmagomedov decided to pull on the boxing gloves, then he would be following in the footsteps of McGregor who slugged it out with Mayweather last year.

It was the boxer who took the win on the night by technical knock out, but it seems Mayweather still has an eye on McGregor regardless of whether he fights Nurmagamedov.

Mayweather wants McGregor rematch

That very fact has emerged in a new interview with TMZ where 'Money' sensationally claims he will fight Nurmagomedov, then rematch McGregor.

Mayweather emphatically stated: "McGregor was talking that s***, so it ain't over.

"After me and Khabib lock up, me and McGregor we gonna lock up again.

"Why he keep fighting these MMA guys? Me and Khabib going to do crazy numbers, me and McGregor are going to do crazy numbers.

"I'm ready to go out there and get the job done and entertain; me and McGregor was entertaining.

"A lot of people didn't think me and McGregor were going to fight but I'm glad it happened; it made the UFC go up a notch.

"All I'm doing is helping keep all combat sports alive."

Strap yourselves in, it seems the lucrative Mayweather fights aren't over quiet yet.

If the American gets his way in the coming months, it seems he'll take on both Nurmagomedov and McGregor in the boxing ring to end his career with two more huge paydays.

However, after the first McGregor bout, taking on another MMA fighter and then securing a rematch would certainly raise some questions about the integrity of the fights.

Even with Mayweather now 41 years old, the chances of a complete novice and somebody with only one professional fight defeating one of the greatest of all time is highly unlikely.

When it comes to Mayweather, though, money talks.
