The Premier League season is now over two month's old and there's been plenty of drama already.

After eight game weeks, there are three teams locked on 20 points at the top of the table with Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool all staking an early title claim.

Arsenal and Tottenham are up next with both north London clubs looking to secure a place in the top four this season, while Bournemouth and Wolves are hot on their tails.

Manchester United haven't exactly enjoyed a promising start to their campaign - they linger in eighth place - but will look to gather momentum after victory over Newcastle.

At the other end of table, the Toon are joined by Huddersfield and Cardiff who all take residence in the relegation zone without a single win to their name.

The Premier League so far

Nevertheless, the likes of Fulham, Southampton, West Ham and Crystal Palace are also precariously close to trouble after the opening two months.

So, there's still plenty of subplots to unfold over the coming months and the tough winter period will go a long towards deciding the final standings in May.

Individual players will play a huge role in any such changes and the finest performers in the Premier League are already becoming apparent.

Some have maintained their impressive form from last season, others have completely raised their game and others have fizzled out after 2017-18.

Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane all to score vs Huddersfield (7/1)*

And, that considered, WhoScored.com have used their huge bank of data to analyse the Premier League so far and have identified the players showing the biggest improvements.

What's next this season?

Some very interesting results with players from Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United all making appearances.

Jurgen Klopp and Maurizio Sarri will be chuffed to see Milner and Hazard taking their place in the top ten most improved and it's certainly well deserved.

Pogba and Salah can count themselves as unlucky to wind up in the bottom 10, but the high standards they set last season were always going to make things difficult.

At this stage of the campaign, it's intriguing to see how so many key players have upped their games and how others have struggled to live up to last year.

How the statistics will compare at the end of the season remains to be seen, but players like Wilson and Sigurdsson are on a trajectory to achieve a lot in 2018-19.

And Hazard's incredible improvement sends quite the message to the rest of the league.
