In defence, Raphael Varane has arguably been the best centre-back this year. And in midfield, what more can be said about N’Golo Kante?

Kante clip is going viral

The Chelsea midfielder’s brilliance was recognised on an international scale when he was named in FIFA’s FIFPro World XI in September, having made the second team in 2017 and the third team in 2016.

Kante can do it all and France have posted a clip of the 27-year-old in Tuesday’s 2-1 win over Germany that highlights just one of his many attributes: strength.

The ball was running away from Germany’s Timo Werner, who began to chase it down.

But unbeknownst to Werner, Kante was also in a hurry to get the ball and he produced a perfect shoulder barge to shove the German forward out of the way.

The caption added to the clip is great. “The German striker thought he had the ball when suddenly... 😉 @nglkante”.

That sums up Kante’s style. He never knows when to give up.

Kante’s rise, from playing in Ligue 2 in 2013 to winning the World Cup five years later, has been nothing short of remarkable.

He’s played an influential role in every side he’s been included in, and it’s now Chelsea who are reaping the benefits of his indefatigable style.

There aren’t many like N’Golo Kante.
