Paulie Malignaggi has had his say on UFC 229, and he has not held back on his criticism for Conor McGregor.

The former boxer hit the headlines in 2017 when he joined McGregor's training camp for his bout against American Floyd Mayweather when it was rumoured a sparring session between the two turned ugly.

A bitter rivalry has ensued ever since photographs emerged appearing to show Malignaggi on the deck - although Paulie has always disputed the claims McGregor actually knocked him down.

However, it is clear that the two are still not on great terms after what Malignaggi had to say about the Irishman's performance at UFC 229.

Speaking to iFL TV, Malignaggi was asked for his verdict on McGregor's submission defeat to Khabib almost two weeks ago and didn't hold back.

"I already know what he (McGregor) is gonna do you know, he's a quitter, you can't take that out of him, you can't train that out of him, you can't beat that out of him... you can beat that in to him, but you're gonna beat that out of him," he said.

"He's going to quit.

"This is the kind of guy that grinds you, and because he's the sort of guy that grinds you if there's quitting you're always gonna be a quitter."

Malignaggi continued: "Realistically speaking the Irish have a lot of pride too and they are typically fighters to the core so I don't know how you can be proud of such a bitch you know, like this guy has always been such a bitch its not like 'oh man we did not expect him to quit like that' well you did.

"We win and we lose, but we go out like fighters, we go out like men, we go out with dignity, that's what competition is... but go out like a man, don't look to make contracts in the middle of the fight like 'It was just business don't hurt me' you p**sy.

"I'd rather you chop my head off than give you the satisfaction of crying to you like a bitch in the fight while we still have to come out in the next round, that was unbelievable."

Clearly, Malignaggi is not McGregor's biggest fan, and he wasn't quite finished yet.

"I cringed for him when I saw the audio on my phone on social media, I was like 'oh my god what a p**sy'... who begs their opponent to take it easy on them in the middle of the fight?

"Have you ever heard of anything like that? I've never heard of anything like that in my life to be honest, that was a first for me."

It looks as though Malignaggi couldn't wait to have a dig at his old sparring partner. Maybe it's for the best if the pair don't run into each other for a while to come.
