Real Madrid have gone from euphoria at winning the Champions League to utter bedlam in the space of a few months.

Zinedine Zidane surprisingly brought an end to his two-and-a-half year stint as manager in the summer, with Julen Lopetegui brought in.

His hire was shrouded in controversy due to the fact he was still in charge of the Spanish national team.

Lopetegui was dismissed by La Roja on the eve of the World Cup.

And his time with Los Blancos hasn't exactly gone to plan so far, with Real Madrid winless in their last five games.

They're fifth in the La Liga table, four points behind bitter rivals Barcelona after losing 2-1 at home to Levante on Saturday afternoon.

A number of Real's usually reliable superstars were truly woeful at the Bernabeu, with Raphael Varane guilty of two crucial mistakes.

Summer signing Thibaut Courtois also struggled, as did Sergio Ramos, who was humiliated at one point by Levante's Jose Luis Morales.

The striker was electric all game and his pace left Ramos on the turf looking embarrassed late in first-half.

Shades of Lionel Messi humiliating Jerome Boateng in that.

Morales simply uses his body movement to deceive Ramos, before accelerating away from him.

Throughout the match, there was a lot of reaction on Twitter centring on Ramos' struggling battle with Morales.

FANS REACT

Not a great day at the office.

After the game, the Real captain spoke to reporters about the future of Lopetegui.

"It's a very bad run that Madrid cannot afford," Ramos said. "Not picking up the three points, today the team gave everything but at other times we have had more luck.

"Individual mistakes have condemned us but we should not point the finger at anyone, the only way to turn this around is to be united. Lopetegui is a very motivating person, he convinces, and we have to believe, he is the first to believe, we need unity.

"If I am asked for an opinion, I give it, but I do not think that an opinion of mine could influence such an important decision as the coach's continuity."
