Conor McGregor has never shied away from demanding the biggest fights possible in the UFC, or boxing for that matter.

As soon as the Irishman debuted in the UFC back in 2013, he has made a career out of calling out the biggest names in the sport.

After demanding a fight with the then featherweight world champion Jose Aldo , an opponent he would defeat in 13 seconds, McGregor would go on to target the lightweight crown.

Before he captured the lightweight world title after beating Eddie Alvarez in November 2016, McGregor suffered his first UFC defeat at the hands of Nate Diaz.

Diaz replaced McGregor’s initial UFC 196 opponent Rafael Dos Anjos, who pulled out of the contest due to a foot injury.

McGregor would go on to jump two weight divisions from featherweight to welterweight to fight Diaz at 170lbs. ‘The Notorious’ was submitted in the second round in the main-event of UFC 196.

After this defeat, McGregor made it known to UFC president Dana White he wanted an immediate rematch with Diaz to avenge his loss.

Although a major risk, McGregor would go on to fight and defeat Diaz just five months later at UFC 202.

Abdelaziz states McGregor rematch is not of interest

McGregor now finds himself in a similar situation- after the former two-weight world champion was defeated to Khabib Nurmagomedov via fourth round submission at UFC 229 the Irishman has already made it known he wants an immediate rematch.

That however, is an unwelcomed demand, according to Nurmagomedov’s manager Ali Abdelaziz, who told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto a rematch is not something they wish to entertain.

We have bigger fish to fry,” he said.

“(McGregor’s) in the past, we’ve just moved on. Right now he’s zero, he has no value, we don’t care about him, he can move on, enjoy his life, enjoy his family but he should be ashamed of himself for everything he said."

Abdelaziz also stated he doesn't believe McGregor truly wants a rematch with his client, and claimed  Nurmagomedov could have ended the fight earlier than the fourth round.

“If people back up a little bit, he almost got knocked out by a grappler," Abdelaziz said.

"I guarantee you, if this guy’s going to keep talking and ask for a rematch, his family should try to stop him, his team should try to stop him, or they should get a life insurance for $100 million because he’ll be done.

“He says he want it but he don’t want it. How you want something like that? How you want a nightmare hunting you for 25 minutes? You have to understand, Khabib carried this boy.

“Khabib could have finished in the first, second, third round. He finished him in the fourth round. He carried him to punish him.”

With Nurmagomedov holding the title it brings huge authority and respect, however, McGregor has proven to get what he wishes time and time again, so, will we ever see a rematch between the two bitter rivals?
