Maurizio Sarri sprung a surprise when naming his Chelsea side for the visit of Manchester United by naming Alvaro Morata in the starting line-up.Olivier Giroud had been Chelsea’s centre-forward in previous matches with the Frenchman linking up superbly with Eden Hazard recently. However, Sarri opted for Morata - a decision that many Chelsea fans disagreed with. And it was a decision that backfired with the Spanish striker failing to trouble United’s defence before he was replaced by Giroud in the 79th-minute.Giroud was introduced with Chelsea trailing 2-1 but Ross Barkley’s 96th-minute equaliser earned them a point.Despite the late draw, Chelsea weren’t at their fluent best and club legend Ruud Gullit believes it was down to the fact both Eden Hazard and Willian refused to pass to Morata."They don't come into any positions where they create anything for him," Gullit said on beINSports.

"The worst part is you can see Willian and Hazard always dribble inside because they don't trust him.

"It is difficult for a striker to play with these two who go inside all the time, you don't know where to go.

"But also when the crosses are in, I think there was a moment in the first half where you asked 'where is Morata', he wasn't there. So they don't trust him."

It’s a big claim from Gullit.

But is it true?

Well, individual highlights have emerged of Hazard’s performance and it does show the Belgian often turning down the opportunity to pass to Morata.

HAZARD IGNORED MORATA ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS

Take a look:

Whether Hazard genuinely avoided passing to Morata is hard to tell but, following Gullit’s comments, it certainly looks that way.

Hazard has worked extremely well with Giroud - who is more of a target-man - this season.

That is perhaps the problem with Morata. His ability to play with his back to goal is certainly nowhere near as good as Giroud's and Hazard isn’t able to bounce passes off him like he does with the former Arsenal man.

That’s perhaps why Hazard decides against passing the ball into Morata’s feet and why he was accused of refusing to pass to him against Man United.
