Real Madrid suffered their fifth game without a win after losing 2-1 at home to Levante in the league on Saturday.

Madrid have lost three of their last four league games last winning against Espanyol on September 22.

After that only a goalless draw at home to Atletico Madrid saw the reigning Champions League winners take any points in the league.

Losses to Seville, Deportivo Alaves and the recent defeat to Levante have seen Julen Lopetegui’s side drop to fifth place in the league.

Lopetegui announced his switch to Madrid, replacing club legend Zinedine Zidane, in the summer just before the start of the world cup.

The 52 year old Lopetegui was in charge of Spain, having taken over following Vicente del Bosque's retirement in 2016, however, the manager didn’t get to manage the nation.

The Spanish FA were frustrated by the timing of Madrid’s announcement and Lopetegui was subsequently sacked.

The rocky beginning to Lopetegui’s reign at the Bernabeu only worsened as the Spaniard has only managed to record five wins in their 12 games in all competitions this season.

And things only seem to get tougher for Madrid, who travel to the Camp Nou next Sunday (October 28) where they meet league leaders Barcelona.

Fans vote on whether Lopetegui should be sacked before the El Classico next week

Before the El Clasico next week, MARCA.com asked readers whether Madrid should go into the game with Lopetegui as their manager.

In 24 hours, more than 160,000 Madrid fans have voted.

The results?

At the time of writing, 53% believe Lopetegui should be dismissed before the clash with Barca, while 47% believe he should be charge for the match at the Camp Nou.

If Madrid are to replace Lopetegui at this early stage in the season, they will need to look for a replacement.

According to FootballItalia former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, who won the Premier League and FA Cup for the Blues, will be prepared to express his interest in the role.

Spanish newspaper El Pais report that Conte was contacted by the club on October 2, following Madrid's loss to CSKA Moscow in the Champions League.
