The WWE Universe have held a polarising opinion towards John Cena ever since around the year 2006.

Some love him and some hate him, but in the last few years his appearances have become less frequent as he's transitioned into a part-time role on the roster.

A wrestling career doesn't last forever, and the 16-time world champion has transitioned into television and movies, and his latest stint away from the WWE has seen him take his life to China.

He's been filming the latest Project X movie with the legendary Jackie Chan for the last few months now, and he will be staying in the Far East until the end of 2018.

His latest return to the WWE at Super Show-Down saw more talk about his new hairstyle rather than his in-ring abilities and the rather silly-looking new 'Sixth Move of Doom' - the Lightning Fist.

Cutting an impassioned promo following his tag team victory, saying he didn't know what lay in his future but the WWE would always be his home.

Cena recently appeared as a guest on The Today Show Radio and took questions from a group of children on a number of different topics.

When the question of WrestleMania 35 - taking place next April - came up though, Cena gave an interesting answer.

Per Ringside News, Cena said: “Where is WrestleMania 35? New York? I’m here right now, right?

John Cena last appeared in WWE at Super Show-Down a few weeks ago, and he seemingly confirmed his WrestleMania 35 status this week.

"Would you like to see me in WrestleMania 35? Then you know what, I was thinking about missing it, but because you want to see me there, I wouldn’t miss it for the world.

"I promise you I’ll be there. I promise.”

Very interesting, if Cena is being genuine then it seems like he was legitimately going to not appear at the event for the first time since 2003.

But it could have all been a work of course, as the WWE loves to get their top part-time stars to work at the biggest event, in which case the leader of the Cenation would be a lock for a match.

You can probably now expect a Royal Rumble appearance in Phoenix or a return to television as 2019 starts for Cena, where there's an endless list of talent that could be in-line for a huge match with him on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
