There aren't many games in world football like the Milan derby. The Derby della Madonnina has hosted some incredible games over the years and brilliant players such as Paolo Maldini, Javier Zanetti and so many more have competed in the fixture.Of course, it pits Inter Milan against AC Milan, two of the biggest clubs in European football and teams with an unwavering desire to gain superiority over Italy's second city.In recent years, the fixture has declined in popularity and weight with both Milan clubs struggling to make a mark in the Serie A title race and the Champions League.Gone are the days of AC conquering Europe in 2003 and 2007, while Inter just haven't enjoyed the same success since Jose Mourinho inspired them to the treble in 2010.

Inter Milan vs AC Milan

That hasn't poured any water on the rivalry itself, though, and even if the game was played in Serie B, it would still capture the attention of everybody in the city.

The passion of the derby is best shown by the supporters, who are some of the most passionate in world football.

There's barely an empty seat in the San Siro when both teams lock horns and that was no different when Inter and AC met this weekend.

AC Milan's menacing display

And just in case the electric atmosphere wasn't enough, the supporters have banded together to make incredible displays as a sign of their allegiance and a message to the opposition.

The snake is an important symbol to Inter Milan and has cultural significance in the city, prompting fans to construct a massive tifo at the home end this week.

It clearly took some serious effort and nearly covered an entire stand of the San Siro, but it didn't stop the away supporters from constructing a response.

In fact, rather menacingly, AC supporters built an image of a red devil tearing the symbolic snake into two pieces. Check out the two displays below:

Now that's got to rattle a few nerves in the Inter squad.

Whether or not the AC fans planned their display as a response is unknown, but it's worked to perfection with the home crowd using their serpentine symbolism.

Nevertheless, at the time of writing, it's Inter who have the upper hand despite the score being locked at 0-0.

They've been left to lament their luck having struck the post and had a goal disallowed, with AC clinging on during the early exchanges.

Regardless of the result, though, you can't fault the supporters for effort but it seems the visitors will take home that respective victory tonight.
