After all the talk about being the best player in the Premier League in recent weeks, Eden Hazard was fairly anonymous against Manchester United on Saturday. The Belgian has started this season on fire and was even being talked about in the same sentence as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. But during the dramatic 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge, Hazard struggled to make an impact. But there might be a valid explanation.A report has emerged from the Telegraph explaining that Hazard is struggling with a back injury and could now miss some matches for Chelsea. The report states: “Hazard required treatment following a challenge from Young during the opening period and subsequently suffered pain in his back.

“The 27-year-old’s performance dropped off after the break and Hazard told friends afterwards that he could not accelerate properly. Maurizio Sarri, the head coach, kept Hazard on the pitch for the full 90 minutes, but his movement was restricted when he woke up on Sunday morning.”

But an eagle-eyed Chelsea fan spotted something worrying from Hazard in the warm-up ahead of the United match.

Jake Heasman saw Hazard speaking with Willian seemingly complaining of back pain, tweeting: “Pretty certain Hazard was carrying an injury today. Noticed he was holding his lower back in the warm up, and then continued to throughout the match. Would explain his bang average performance. #CHEMUN.”

It suggests that Hazard’s back injury runs a little deeper than just a knock during the United match and could well be a cause for concern for everyone associated with Chelsea.

They will just be desperate that he can get it sorted and isn’t sidelined for too long.

The Telegraph claim that the 27-year-old could miss the Europa League tie to Bate Borisov and the Premier League clash against Burnley three days later.
