Cristiano Ronaldo is set to face his former club, Manchester United, at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

The 33-year-old Portuguese forward is expected to start up front for Juventus in a tasty Champions League group stage fixture.

Ronaldo - who moved to England at the age of 18 - spent six successful years at Man United before completing a world-record transfer to Real Madrid in 2009.

He's won five Ballon d'Or awards and is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all-time.

Ronaldo always knew he was destined for greatness.

His former Man United teammate Quinton Fortune has revealed what the Juventus star was like when he arrived from Portugal.

And, with an ego like his, it's no surprise they used to love winding him up in the dressing room.

Fortune told The Times: “I remember him walking into the dressing room in his first week and he said, ‘I am the best’ in front of Keane, Scholesy, Giggsy, Van Nistelrooy and all these amazing players.”

"Such statements provoked laughter and witty retorts from those in the squad who had Premier League winner’s medals, of which there were many.

“'You’re just keeping that No 7 shirt warm for Becks until he comes back,' was one reply. 'That one used to eat him up,' Fortune says, chuckling.

You can imagine just how much that would annoy the skilful Portuguese winger.

Ronaldo joined the Red Devils two months after David Beckham left to join Real Madrid in the summer of 2003.

The pair of them are undoubtedly two of the greatest players to wear the iconic number 7 jersey at Man United.

"It's a huge emotional thing for me to come back," Ronaldo told reporters on Monday.

"I know all about the history. I won trophies here - cups, leagues, Champions League.

"Sir Alex Ferguson is someone I will never ever forget and I'd like to express my best possible wishes to him."
