Monday Night Raw this week saw Roman Reigns devastatingly announce to the world for the first time that he had been battling leukemia for the last 11 years. He's already beaten it once in his life, but Reigns revealed it had returned and will fight it for a second time - meaning he has to step away from the WWE for a while. It comes just two months after finally capturing the Universal Championship, the belt he has had to relinquish due to the diagnosis. It was an announcement so serious that Reigns had to break character, seeing as the Roman Reigns we all know is the most polarising figure on the WWE roster and the fans are always split in their opinion of his booking.Reigns revealed himself as simply 'Joe' as he tried to explain how he was going away and vowed to return after he 'kicks leukemias ass'.He then met his tag team partners Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins on the ramp for an emotional embrace, and was filmed by WWE making his way back into the gorilla position, where he was met by the likes of Shawn Michaels, Paul Heyman and Braun Strowman. And now Reigns has tweeted for the first time since his appearance on Raw, and has clearly been humbled with how many messages of support he has received.

"Thank you to everyone who’s reached out...I can’t put into words what it means to me," said Reigns.

"Your energy and positivity motivate me to get better quickly to get back in the ring, but for now I’m going to spend time with my family and focus on health.

"Thank you - Joe/Roman."

He's received over 20,000 replies on that tweet alone, showing the global popularity he possesses, all of whom are wishing him the best.

It's going to be very strange not seeing the powerhouse of The Shield on our television screens every Monday in the near future, such is his prominence on Raw.

But we know Reigns is going to win his fight and come back stronger than ever.
