By now, it's common knowledge that Roman Reigns will be stepping away from the WWE to undergo a second battle with leukemia.

First diagnosed 11 years ago, Reigns announced on Monday Night Raw that the cancer had returned and would have to relinquish his Universal Championship.

He will be sorely missed on weekly television - no matter if you like or dislike his character, Reigns garnered one of the biggest reactions every night he showed up on Raw.

Reigns is seen as a locker room leader now after being on the main roster for over five years, and one man who has detailed his leadership qualities is Aleister Black.

The former NXT Champion was called up for the main roster European tour in early 2018, and appeared on an episode of Main Event against Curt Hawkins in London.

It was Black's first time on the road with WWE's elite, and stated that he upheld traditions that he learnt in the Dojo's of Japan by cleaning the locker room, making sure wrestlers had water ready for them amongst other things.

Black then explained how he talked to the other wrestlers so that they could get to know him, and soon got talking to Reigns about their background, music and tattoos.

And it was during that conversation where Reigns gave Black his full respect despite only just meeting.

"I don't want you cleaning the locker rooms anymore," Reigns said.

"I want you to understand that you belong here and I want for you to kill it every night and be part of the team, that's all I care about.

"You've been wrestling long enough to understand how this works, so please, relax."

It's brilliant to see these behind the scenes stories of superstars as they can sometimes have very different personas to what we see on television.

But from Black, and other people's words, we know that the character Reigns plays is just like the real-life Joe Anoa'i.
